We are looking for a Junior IT Helpdesk Specialist to join our BUX team based in Amsterdam.
As a Junior IT Helpdesk Specialist at BUX, you are the first point of contact for colleagues with IT questions. You pick up tickets, solve day-to-day hardware, software and account issues, prepare laptops and accounts for new joiners, and manage our hardware stock and inventory. You work closely with our IT Engineer, who owns infrastructure and security projects and will coach you on how we do things.
This is a hands-on role for someone early in their IT career who likes helping people and wants to learn how IT is run in a forward-looking fintech. Over time, you'll grow into more of the technical work: device management, identity, automation, and security.
What you will do
Pick up, log and resolve first-line tickets, keep requesters informed and escalate when needed
Onboard and offboard employees: accounts in Google Workspace and Microsoft Entra ID, laptops, access passes and peripherals
Prepare, enroll and hand over Windows and Apple devices, and troubleshoot them when something breaks
Manage hardware and inventory: keep the asset register accurate, track who has what, maintain spare stock, handle repairs, returns and secure disposal of old equipment
Support meeting rooms, AV and office IT, including setup for internal and external events
Assist with hardware and license purchasing and vendor contact
Document the fixes you apply and keep our IT records up to date
Help the IT Engineer with rollouts and improvement projects as you gain experience
What you need to succeed
Service-minded attitude and clear communication in English
Well-developed problem-solving skills, being able to systematically diagnose issues and deploy fitting solutions
Intermediate working knowledge of Windows and macOS and experience with common office applications
Familiarity with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365 as a user
Ability to follow procedures, prioritize, and write down what you did
Organized and precise approach, keep track of equipment and records and help maintain and develop our IT Service processes
Curiosity and a drive to learn; an IT-related education or previous IT job is a plus but not required
Nice-to-haves
Experience with the Google Workspace Admin console and/or Microsoft 365 admin (user management, groups, licenses)
Experience with a ticketing tool (Freshservice, Jira Service Management, or similar)
Exposure to Intune, Jamf, or another MDM
Experience with an asset management or CMDB tool
Basic networking knowledge (Wi-Fi, TCP/IP) or basic scripting (PowerShell, bash)
