Senior Technical Product Owner - Broker

We usually respond within three days
We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Owner to join our BUX team based in Amsterdam.
The Broker team owns the backend systems that handle all investing and saving account operations at BUX. This includes how orders are routed and processed across multiple security types (e.g., stocks, ETFs, ETCs), how core broker functions work, such as order placement and execution, how quotes are processed and used, how integrations with 3rd-party systems operate, and how payments and cash-flow behaviour are handled, how corporate actions are applied, and how savings accounts are created and updated. These systems run behind the scenes but are foundational to the accuracy, reliability, and safety of the entire BUX experience.
The team is fully backend-focused, consisting of staff and senior backend engineers, and a technical lead. We work closely with Operations, Back Office, Compliance, Finance, Data and AI, and the App team, even though their work is not user-facing, it underpins every action customers take in the app.
We value responsibility demonstrated through technical curiosity, precision, reliability, and a deep appreciation for the systems that quietly keep the entire investment and savings platform running.
What you will do
As a Product Owner, you will define how backend systems evolve, ensure they remain robust and scalable, and guide the development of new investing and saving features. You will prioritise backend work, shape system behaviour through clear specifications, and align technical development with operational and regulatory needs.
This role is a great fit if you enjoy deep technical domains, like understanding how complex systems work behind the scenes, and are motivated by building reliable, high-integrity infrastructure that quietly supports thousands of customers every day.
In this role, you will:
Define the product strategy and roadmap for the Broker domain, ensuring clarity, technical feasibility, and high impact
Translate complex backend behaviour into clear requirements and user stories with well-defined system rules, edge cases, and expected outcomes
Lead a backend engineering scrum team, driving effective planning and ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery
Collaborate with third-party providers and data partners to design and deliver stable integrations for execution, market data, and savings account logic
Own the rollout of backend changes, ensuring controlled, low-risk deployments and maintaining system stability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Monitor system performance and work with engineers to resolve bottlenecks, improve scalability, and support new investing and saving functionality
What you need to succeed
5+ years of experience as a Product Owner in a backend-heavy or technical domain, ideally within fintech, brokerage, or trading systems
Strong ability to understand backend systems, APIs, data flows, and architectural constraints, and translate that knowledge into clear, effective product decisions
A structured, analytical mindset with high attention to technical detail when working with financial, operational, and regulatory logic
A strong interest in and awareness of how product decisions impact customer-facing UX, ensuring that even technical choices ultimately support a great client experience
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working closely and efficiently with backend engineers, technical leads, and operational stakeholders
Interest or familiarity with investing, saving products, or financial markets; a technical background is considered a plus
Ability to use AI tools to improve documentation, system mapping, technical analysis, and workflow optimisation
